We are here for our community and planet. To help out we have a bunch of initiatives that we are very passionate about, covering community, sustainability, and charity.
Community
Unfit run club by ume.
We started UNFIT RUN CLUB at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, and it remains a thriving community initiative assisting local café and brewery owners through an extremely tough time for the hospitality industry. Each week you can catch us for coffee at a local hotspot, and a 1-5km run through the streets of Brisbane, Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast. Café locations and run maps are updated weekly, and all information can be found on our website/Instagram.
Sustainability
Saving the planet one delivery at a time.
As a transport company we are acutely aware of our environmental impact and we are dedicated in supporting organisations such as 1% for the Planet and Carbon Neutral. These are just some small ways that Ume is doing its bit to create a healthier planet.
1% of our annual gross sales go to 1% for the Planet, an organisation close to our heart that is paving the way for responsible businesses to create a healthier planet in giving back to environmental non-profits.
We have also committed to moving to a fully Electric Vehicle (EV) fleet once they hit Australian shores, and are aiming to be Australia’s first completely carbon neutral courier company by 2022.
Charity
Let's end poverty.
We believe strongly in closing the gap on poverty, not just in our locality but in the wider world. That’s why we donate a portion of our time and resources every year to Orange Sky who do a great deal of fantastic work across Brisbane for the homeless population, and corporate donations to Oxfam Australia whose relentless work many of us are familiar with across the third world.
“Orange Sky Australia is the world’s first free mobile laundry service for people experiencing homelessness – an idea founded in a Brisbane garage by two 20-year-old mates, Nic Marchesi and Lucas Patchett. In late 2014, the boys installed a couple of washing machines and dryers in the back of their old van and visited parks around Brisbane to wash and dry clothes for free. What started as an idea to improve hygiene standards and restore dignity to people doing it tough has evolved into something much bigger and more powerful.”
